Melanie Rideout

I’m a Part-time Octopus Energy Specialist and a part-time Climate change and Environmental specialist for a Human Rights NGO. With a background in sustainability consulting in  the private sector.

I recognised the importance and need of making projects not just sustainable socially and environmentally, but economically. Scalable projects, with philanthropic values and core drivers looking at reducing poverty that will be able to continue sustainably in the future.

My main focus is generating 'green jobs' and creating economic opportunity to foster stability, peace and long term development.

Monica Merino

After a brief period of time working in the advertising industry I made a decision to flip my focus as a creative to only work on projects with a positive and clean aim. Working mainly with clients focused on sustainability and mental health.

My aim is to help create a positive impact, be sustainable, and be good to the planet.

Somehow life brought me to Octopus Energy where I met Mel who introduced me to her idea. I’ve learnt about the importance of clean energy and the impact reliable energy has on the way we live. It’s become so important to me to make sure we reach the goals of this project.

David Lingfors

David Lingfors; Researcher (PhD, Postdoc) at Uppsala University with focus on renewable energy, specifically solar.

I have been involved in Engineers Without Borders Sweden since 2012. I installed a solar power system at a school in Cameroon, 2016/2017 with the organisation, and have been involved ever since. My main driver for engagement in this project is to help people to help themselves to get access to affordable and reliable energy that does not deplete local resources nor jeopardise people’s health.

This is to a large extent in line with the scope of this project. Secondly, as a teacher I would like to help engineer students to broaden their perspective on energy use and access to energy in different socioeconomic contexts, and therefore encourage them to take part in projects like this one. At the university, I have supervised several engineer students doing feasibility studies for micro grid systems based on renewable energy in Africa and South America

Rasmus Lundvik

Management Consultant at Centigo, Sweden with a focus on project- and change management. M.Sc in Industrial Engineering and Management, bachelor in Energy Technology, at Linköping University. Involved in EWB-Sweden since 2016 as a Project Manager for Solar Panel Project in Tanzania 2016/2017. Installed solar power at a boarding school in Tanzania 2017. Now Project Manager for REP. I am involved in REP becasue I want to create a sustainable program for delivering education and competence in renewable energy to communities in developing countries. I want to do this by focusing on entrepreneurship, education and total local ownership. With REP I am certain we can create a positive change in an effective way that is possible to scale in the future.

My work allows me flexible hours which gives me the room to manage REP. As a consultant  some periods are more intense and some are less intense. This means that I can focus more on REP certain periods. Since this program gives me a lot of energy, working evenings and weekends with this gives me a lot of joy, and is something I do during more intense periods at work.
